100% Agree with this. The reality of it is that the KC community would be a hell of a lot smaller if it was certain that no one could never earn a single $L from it again...
Don't say "it's JUST for fun" and "ONLY a hobby".... The moment you opened a shop and/or profited from your "hobby" it became more than JUST that....
Then you take offence. I take offence that you think you know what everyone is doing in the market. And I will say it's a hobby. I do NOT breed to make lindens. I know I won't break even. I don't think ANYONE breaks even. I buy my food/milk with my money, not from sales. My kitty sales in 4 months paid for all but one of my shops except maybe 3 weeks. I had to shell out the rest myself. No biggie as my shops aren't very big so my rentals aren't expensive. I don't HAVE to have shops. I have shops because if I didn't, I'd be overrun with kitty boxes. I don't breed one fur, although I am partial to have more of a certain fur in my shops. But...they are all different. I breed what I like and I am aware that not everyone like what I do. Fine. If said kitty doesn't sell within a time frame, off to kitty heaven it goes for savings of food/milk or I birth kitty and breed it out with another to see if I get what I'm wanting. It is fun for me. I like to pair them. I like to see what they give me. I like to pair them with a different kitty and see what I get. I like projects to get those traits I want. THAT is my hobby. Breeding them IS my hobby. I could close down all my shop tomorrow and not think another thing about it. Why don't I? Cause again, I'd be overrun with boxes with all the kitties I'm playing with. Maybe someone will like them, and there are.
You don't know what my system is so don't think that you do.
I see a lot of hateful words spit out at KC Main. Rhetorical question: If you don't like it, why are you here? Whether they increase/decrease this or that, we will always be there. Why? Because we love our cats.
One last thing, limiting the time you can unpack a box is just insane, period.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
Hi again all! I popped in earlier and I am going to do so again and repeat something Callie has said elsewhere.
We request that everyone speak to each other with respect. Please leave out judgments about people and what you think of them. If you want to comment on ideas, please do, and please keep it to ideas and not "about people".
Our forum is a place to discuss ideas and opinions, and to do it in as kind and courteous a way as possible. Disagreements are normal and to be expected, however we ask that everyone abide by our guidelines of keeping posts respectful.
If you have an issue with someone, please work those things out privately.
So to recap, discussing idea, thoughts is totally FINE.
Judging, name calling, and anything rude is NOT okay.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
There's a sucker born every minute, and the stray cats know where we all live!

Yes, thank you. And I'm not at all suggesting that anybody should do anything but spend very cautiously in this virtual world. My post is only meant to contribute a bit to market analysis. I have heard suggestions that this way of handling the LEs is the The Way To Go, but as I said, I think that market Could also become very saturated. I am glad, that as Kayleigh said, some people have done well by this method of selling collectables. I wish people well, whether they treat the kitties as a hobby or a money-making business. People do it both ways; this is fine and well. Everybody should do it responsibly, within their means.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
I am absolutely with you Kitten, and at 100% of your opinion!!
And I am so glad, that until now there have not been any personal attacks, just comments on ideas and opinions.
THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR FAIRNESS!!
I am very curious to see the reply of KC , which ideas, which have been posted in this thread , are practicable and when....
And certainly I am happy for every further idea/proposal from you all, to communicate openly
Beause only communicating the opinions makes it possible, that the Ideas can be translated into action by KC........so this is an EXCELLENT TEAMWORK to make progress with what we all love and have fun together

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
I would like to contribute more this reflection.
I think the fact that no new furs in Easter, also caused this bad period. Thus, other traits were killed rapidly.
The greatest demand is for Furs, and without new furs to work, the market stops.
The second largest demand is eyes.
New collections can not be launched without new furs. Easter without furs, was a mistake.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
What if there was a new fur but nobody found it? Placed in only a very few boxes? I've heard that this has happened before, not necessarily with furs, that traits simply weren't found. I could be wrong about that though, and your observation still stands. Wasn't the Dry Olive eye found by a single person? Snowshoe Cream, wasn't that found by a single person?
And really, KittyCatS! HQ, they're damned if they do and they're damned if they don't. People yell because there are too many traits and it's ruining the market and people yell because there are too few traits and it's ruining the market.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
I find myself way more interested in new traits besides furs and I urge to buy and breed those way more.
This has to do with the fact that other traits we can combine endless with what ever fur while a fur is more hype sensitive: in high demand for a short while and out of grace in no time I noticed.
I have OS-ers of last year's new furs boxed in my cattery because the hype is over and people are not looking for them anymore.
With new furs I work only if I really love it because it is not at all easy from my experience to market them after the matter.
So mine are waiting in my cattery till they are in demand again.

Gosh this makes me want to know if there are traits we've never found and how many that are! :-)
Would be awesome if KC wants to tell us that LOL

Maybe KC could make a poll with some of the suggestions posted (if they are possible of cause)?

I agree with Fabao... the lack of a new fur in the Easter kitties made for a long dry spell. In my observation and based on my sales, furs and eyes are the most sought after traits... of course, your mileage may vary.
Last year, I was able to sell cats up until the Halloween release. This year... all sales stopped at the end of August and as a result, I reduced my cattery from 200 to 34. I don't mind having only 34 cats, but part of the fun of KittyCats for me is selling them in the secondary market.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
I think fur would be most important, followed by eye color, then size, ears and tail, whisker color and shape, shade and finally the other two eye traits. But that's just my impression from watching what people say when they talk about cats.
Of these, size is not breedable, eye shape and pupil size should never have new values, and shade is problematic.
That leaves Fur, eye color, ears and tail, and whisker color and shape.
My suggestion would be to balance count vs popularity. Adding more values to popular traits like fur would have more impact, now. Increasing the count in the less popular area should increase their importance, later.
