Brick Giving us the rights back to delete avarage threads
A while ago you took away our rights to delete our threads.
I feel in general for forum topics such as sales and stuff this is too restrictive and makes it at least for me not convenient to use these topics especially when the sale is over etc.
But also with older showrooms and other threads which are not sensitive to become relevant for the community.
I feel we should have the right to delete our threads.
I can imagine the "Feedback Corner" and "General discussions" should be excluded from this ability due to their sensitivity to become relevant for the community.
I personal like to clean my outdated threads otherwise it feels they are taken in hostage and leaves no other option than clearing the original post and placing a couple of dots or so instead.
I don't like that as an impression of my activities on the forums.

Thank you for considering.

RE: Giving us the rights back to delete avarage threads
I totally agree with you Kayleigh. I just returned to Kittycats after a long vacation, and I was attempting to clean up my control panel. Some of the threads there are from early 2012. I would like to have the ability to tidy up my work space. I too understand that some content has the ability to become relevant over and over to various users and for various reasons, but I am pretty sure my old auction threads from 2012 are not among those. RE: Giving us the rights back to delete avarage threads
I was thinking exactly the same the other day Kay Smile

Although i'm not sure if MyBB has an option for deleting in selected sections by members (if it doesn't exist yet it ought to as i've seen that certain other forums do have this) i believe there is an option that allows them to delete their thread if there are under X number of posts in it, maybe setting to 3 could work well.

Of course we don't want threads to be deletable on other sections as before, it was extremely annoying to contribute and also see others' valuable contributions disappear just because the thread creator didn't like the turn of the content, but for the market section i think a solution needs to be found.
(I would also like to see the sales threads off the forum statistics page as they have no use there and are masking some more important and useful threads. God knows why certain sales or market threads have to be bumped 100 times or more when the creator could well just delete the former obsolete posts each time.)

Another option could be to bring in another moderator with limited editing rights, we could send them links to the threads we would like to be deleted, someone who has the time to do this.

RE: Giving us the rights back to delete avarage threads
Welcome back Kar! Smile
I can imagine you want to clean threads from 2012 a fresh start seems more attractive.
I agree with you Anna it should be discouraged for an OP who disagrees with how the thread turn out to be able to delete.
That would harm the freedom of speech and expression of other community members.
How it is now is somewhat overbearing I think Smile
I hope you are right and KC has some more advanced forum running skills in the team to tweak the settings of their forums in a more subtle way.

RE: Giving us the rights back to delete avarage threads
I disagree. For most sections people shouldn't be able to delete their threads. I think having the older threads are helpful when you are new. When I first started kittycats at the end of 2013, the forum was very helpful in learning things and I went back pretty far in reading the threads. Something may seem average or boring to someone who has been doing it for awhile but can be new information for a newbie. Certain sections, like the sales, rentals or trades are very time sensitive so perhaps those should have a time frame where they are automatically deleted by the system. Although even these sections have some use as new people can start to get an idea of what people are looking for and price ranges and how these have changed over time.

While I agree with you I feel also people should have the freedom to decide what happens with their thread if it is for example a sales thread.
Otherwise posting here is too permanent I feel it should be part of the personal freedom and privacy of the OP to delete their sales threads in specific.
Such threads shouldn't have to be there for ever I think.
And we can alter original post with only dots anyway so it has really no use to take away this freedom from us.
Personally I noticed by this change I barely use the sales section anymore while before I did and try to only post things from which I think I want to keep here for ever which is very long already.
