New cat owner, help please!

Hi, I was gifted a beautiful kitten by my SL sister but I'm a bit lost on what I need to do now.

Do I need a special food and water bowl for her?

Di I need a special sleeping basket or will she sleep anywhere?

Sorry might sound dumb but it is my first time owning a pet on SL.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi & welcome.

You'll find food at the mainstore, only kibble is mandatory, it's the same food for all cats, whatever their age is.
They will sleep where you set up their home point at (click to bring the menu > animation > set home) or where the cat is rezzed from the inventory or where it came out of its box.

this food is outrageously expensive! how long does it last a lifetime?

L$170 (US$0.65) for 1 breeding cat will last 4 weeks, 8 for a non breeding cat (breed off).

So expensive indeed..... ^^

If you're not planning to breed the cat, then I would recommend permapetting as soon as it reaches 7 days old (you can't permapet it until it is fully grown). The L$1800 to permapet a kitty under 120 days may seem like a lot, but it avoids ever having to worry about buying food again.

On the other hand, if you do want to breed, you can advertise on this forum for a partner for your kitty.

if I take my kitten off of 3D mod to save prims , what happens? can I switch back if I don't like the results?

It changes the cat into a lower prim mode or an image. Of course, you can switch back to 3D.
