Star Frustrations and Rewards
As some of you who know me I am new to the Kitty Cats. I started out in march when a friend gave me my first Kitty. I did not open it up right away he just sat in my inventory for a month until I unpacked him in April. This started my wonderful and sometimes disappointing journey with KittyCatS!

When the first specialty kitties came out that I could get, The Spring Time kitties and Easter Kitties, I got excited. and got a few of them some just for collection others to learn how they worked. I saw how easy it was to get one and work it in to my cattery. Not long after that I thought I would start selling my kitties and found a great place at Kitty Kottage and set up shop. Found classes to go to (ugh early Sunday mornings) and then found the great joy and evil of auctions (evil is trying not to bid on a kitty when you know you need to buy food).

Then the tigers were announced and everyone got excited and started talking about getting a tiger. Now I did want one but I wanted one in white so I knew I would be waiting and not getting one right away. Then when they came out the price and the number of kitties it would take me to send in (no I have no issue sending the kitties to the open range and let them run and play). I voice my opinions about the cost with facts and figures that I saw. Yes I will admit with a bit of frustration added in a well. But I did not see the whole picture and when more facts and figures came back to me I could see it. Yes I am still frustrated but I see a goal and ways to earn this goal as well not only for myself but for my close friends as well.

Last night I got a reminder on why the tigers are set at this price and why, at least myself, we do kittycats. It is the joy, the excitement when you get something that you have worked at. Even with all the frustration and doing things wrong you get the one kitty that makes it all better. I am now a proud owner of a Chateau Cat - Tawny & White No.1 the new fur released from the Spring Time - Funflower kitties.

I want to say thank you to Liriel, Nyn and Hellcat, again for all the wonderful help they have given this noob that helped me get this wonderful kitty. I know that when the breeding cycle is over I am going to perma-pet this kitty and hold on to it to remind me. Yes we do not get everything the way we want it but when we do, there is nothing that that feeling!

Callie thank you to you and your team for putting up with all of us during this and keeping a calm and cool head through all of this and do please keep up the good work. By the way I am saving up for that white tiger I hope it will be soon!!

RE: Frustrations and Rewards
This is a well thought out response, it will take work and some effort to get those tigers but there is a great deal of reward in that as well. I also think this will help the market in the long run because now we will be weighing more into if we want to keep that cat or send it off to roam and play and work towards getting our tigers.

Rayne, you're very welcome. You're a pleasure to work with on kitties because you listen, you learn, you analyze, and then you put everything to good use. Keep up the excellent job!! Sorry about the early Sunday -- but you have to admit, it's been worth it!

RE: Frustrations and Rewards
Thank you for the well-thought out and heartfelt post on this Rayne. And you are welcome. I am happiest when teaching others and sharing the knowledge I have learned from other people through my past year in KittyCats. As for the menagerie cats... well, I have a few thoughts on them myself. LOL

I am glad that KC's finally decided to release a BIG ticket item to use your K$, because up to this point I think I've bought 6 scratchy posts and a permapet bottle with my K$. I was hoarding them and not willing to spend them, but also had no clue this was in the works. However, this really makes it worthwhile. When you think about all the effort that you put into breeding your cats, time, expenses, etc, its really really rewarding to be able to get a kitty like this from the menagerie K$. I wish they had made them no transfer, but we can't get everything we want. Wink

I'd love to get one of every color that Callie releases - I have an RL love affair with tigers so I had a catgasm when I saw the release poster for these. (Callie - you are FREAKING AWESOME!!!) But its going to take time and work and patience. And it hugely benefits the secondary market when people use this properly, which I love, and I know other serious breeders appreciate. As Sanura said, we really have to think twice about whether we want to keep that cat, sell it, or just send it to the M, because its just not worth flooding the market with mediocre cats when you can work your way toward a fantastic reward.

A lot of folks have been complaining about the "unachievable" goal of 10K or 12K K$. But its not unachievable, and the point is to make it an amount that requires some effort but is not impossible to reach. (The jewels on the other hand...) As with anything else in a breedable, you always have the option to buy what you need to get there.

RE: Frustrations and Rewards
How super cool you guys organize breeding classes for people!
I love our community Smile
I know Sanura gives them as well and when Saga gave classes when I was new this was such an important event because honestly without the knowledge I would have still been struggling big time ...
Thumbs up volunteers!

Perfect timing, cause this weeks' topic is about reading pedigrees, finding what's hidden, and pulling it out. So the more kitties, the merrier!

Thanks *smiles* ours are based a lot on what Saga did before. We do them every Sunday and we cover a lot of different topics. I firmly believe that the more informed we all are, the stronger the community grows.

RE: Frustrations and Rewards
all of you start a KC School together!!! LOL that would be so funny, you all could wear uniforms, have different teachers, sit in desks LOL. and have a chalkboard LOL...

and of course the cats would grade the papers Smile

*imagines people going from class to class with back pack and their fave cat AND of course eating kibble at lunch with their cats Tongue

oh then we'd need a football team, cheerleaders, school jacket, LOL...

HAHAHAHAHA... i know i'm WEIRD!!!!! don't need to say it, if you don't believe me ask equinox, kittycats or kitten... (hush everyone else who said 'oh you could ask me too") Tongue
