i agree with everyone here, waiting 14 days to breed is frustrating and as one said a waste or drain on resources. Please KC team let our kitties gain love at day 7!!!

A persistent complaint is that new traits lose value too quickly. Shortening the initial breeding period would hasten that, causing new traits to lose value even more quickly.

Some design decisions were made. A number of factors were weighed, and they set it at a 7-day lead-in, and a 113-day effective life: removing your cats from the breeding game at 121 days of age.

If you support removing the 7-day lead-in, and don't mind the deleterious effects upon pricing and markets, I trust you'll also support maintaining the 113-day effective life span by shortening the too-old limit from 121 to 114 days.

It's only fair.

RE: Give those "Teen-kitties" a boost of love! (Faster breeding)
I admit I lurk in the forums, but this thread has prompted me to put in my two cents.

I used to breed Fennux, these little foxies are at 100% heat by the end of their first week of life; breeding them was fun because I got dens fast, but so did everyone else. The market was dynamic to say the least, things moved fast, auctions were packed and those with luck made a lot of money selling their prized dens. But a year on after, the market took a tumble, the easy breeding that lure many in soon saw many giving up and fire sales were everywhere.

I'm not saying the same thing might happen to the KittyCats market should they shorten the 14 days initial wait. I feel that this longer wait has a more psychological purpose (whether it was intentional or not), it forces you to plan your breedings better, it also filters the recreational breeders from the committed ones. Imagine new entrants to KittyCats everyday plus a dynamic market where new furs and traits move fast, it becomes - in my opinion - stressful. Perhaps some of us relish this challenge, and it does not hurt KittyCats having more kibble/milk sales due to the appealing shorter initial breeding period.

All I'm saying is that the market stability that KittyCats enjoy might change, for better or worse I do not know. Most breeding programs are designed to challenge the breeder to work with their rules and KittyCats have already remove the many restrictions that plague most breedables like allowing in-breeding. For having the freedom to mate 2 cats regardless of parentage, I think its a small price to pay for that first 14 days wait, it made me appreciate the cats (and my breeding effort) instead of treating them as a commodity.

Just my two cents Smile

I'm with Tad and Laurrent for a different reason: I've "started" breeding KittyCatS twice now (I took a long break), so I see it from the point of view of the newcomer or very small breeder. You spend the first week watching your new kitten grow and cooing about it. You spend the second week excitedly watching the Love meter rise and either agonizing over whether you've made the best breeding plans, or running around trying to find someone to partner with. And that's pretty much what you do for the fifteen weeks after that too! I'd really rather not mix the growing and cooing with the second-guessing and negotiating.

As being one of the new kids on the block so to speak in the KittyCatS! world, I have to say that I agree that 14 days is a bit frustrating. It would be nice if some sort of compromise could be reached here. Not sure what all is involved in the coding of these adorable critters but maybe have them start gaining love at say day 3, not eligible for potions until after their first box, and that would put us at day 10 instead of day 14. Granted to make the day 10 mark they would need cuddles!...and who doesn't want to cuddle their cutie? Personally i consider milk to be part of the breeding equation. Sure I love to cuddle and pet my cuties, but there are some days where I just don't get to all of them. But in other words...the lowering of the breeding from 14 days, I think should happen.
