I think, the amount of people who started with Kittycats has grown a lot from the time they had been released to the grid as a new interactive breedable kitty. In the same amount the cats breeded have grown and of course the price does drop with so many breeder around. Especially the new breeder always have problems to get into the market, the prices and to know what is a good cat, what not. Therefore they are the people that just can't see the value of a well traited cat... not because they are ignorant, but because no one is taking their hand and helping them to see what this works like. Support for the newbies is a very important part and how often do i hear from newbies that have been ripped off or wrongly adviced. The newbie today, is the customer of tomorrow....
In general, it would help if the cats stop being able to make so many offsprings, somehow reduce the cats flooding the market. On the other hand, people more and more stop wanting to upload money into SL so that you basically spend just the money you somehow made within SL. This being said, much money goes for food... it would surely help to make a better price on the cat food...but that alone is not it. I heared rumors that SL-2 is in discussion...this makes a lot of people insecure, not knowing if and how they can transfer what they have here now on this SL. Then again, also lots of money goes down for rentals (not just marketplace rentals but also private rentals) and then you can't even be sure you will sell anything.
The markets themselves are really good to display your cats, if you look for something special, a marketplace for cats is perfect to look for your dream cats. But then, what is the point display your cat in a store rental if you get it even cheaper on an auction. There needs to be a good balance between auctions and rentals. But as soon as some auction place gives up times, another market jumps right onto the time, this won't reduce the auction amount just spreading it differently.
I am an auctioneer myself and I do want to size down to just one auction per week... but i know if i was to do this step actually, another auctioneer would quickly do it instead of me. However, people are being tired, going to auctions no longer is fun, it's a hassle. You rush from the 11 a.m auction to the 12 p.m auction to the 2 p.m auction to the 4 p.m auction... no time to look for the cottages and stalls, must hurry to the next auction. Where is the fun in it? What about some dance events with cats, dress up contests and party time? Relax and make people remember why KC is so great.
But to return back to the original point of Unicorn's discussion...KittyCatS themselves, they have come down with a lot of inovativ ideas to enhance their pets. I do understand KittyCatS don't want to mess with the marketsplaces stuff and the pricing and I do believe its good to keep out of it, but there are other things that can be done. I would love seing KC going from sim to sim for the Q+A's or do fishings on the markets instead of their mainstore.... make a 50 pack of food for an even better price or reduce the amount of breeds a cat can have and much more would be thinkable...
Well so much my five cents...
