Poof, it does cost to perma-pet older cats. There is a discount but it does still cost. However, perma-pets do not eat ANY food.

You can always switch any cat (and elderly cats automatically do this) to pet food, which means they eat half as much food, so if you don't mind buying food and keeping them rezzed, pet food might be a good option.
