They're mainly nothing more than a shorthand. Most of the terms have to do with noting some success in breeding.
'perfect eyes' is a lot shorter than 'mysterious eye shape and small pupil size' Does anyone use 'trifecta' any more? It certainly was a lot shorter than 'mysterious eye shape, mysterious ears, and mysterious tail'.

As to the wisdom of always looking for the most recessive, yes, it can greatly help your breeding program, and, yes, it can greatly help if you're looking to make a discovery. But, when it comes to these random specials, such as the Royals, and the introduction of the new trait, it can actually be a detriment. Those new breedable trait values are usually applied randomly, after everything else about the box has been generated. And they often check to make sure the discarded genetic material (one of the two eye colors passed from the parents, in this case) is not something more deeply recessive. So, those working exclusively on deeply recessive eyes would have the same chance as anyone else to get the costume eyes, but less (even, no) chance to get the breedable version; while new players, who tend to work mainly on starters, will have the best chances.
hi ty for replying. im new at all of this. there is a new trait? where is that coming from?
