If what the cat Hides is accurate, then how is that a gimmick? If a genesis fur hides a new rare fur, and it is proven to be so, should that cat only be labeled as as a genesis fur, with no mention that is is hiding a fur discovered 5 days ago worth 20K? Really?

The statement 'there are people' inherently implies not everyone, and continuing to further point out, 'some are notorious', extended the statement to mean a certain few.
Some =/= All
Really.

*edit* Just so there is no confusion, '=/=' is a simple way to write 'does not equal' in mathematics.
Less than 50 words? tl;dr

RE: DOn't Say HIDE!?!
I didn't see the abbreviation I used explained ... OS = offspring meaning a direct parent with whatever.
It would be lovely if there were a nice non-judgemental way to say "I noticed some of your cats are mislabeled, if you'd like help fixing them let me know." I've actually done this a few times but never gotten a response.

RE: DOn't Say HIDE!?!
I will admit I have not read every post in this thread so if I am simply repeating what other people have pointed out I apologize.

I personally have huge issue with people who place cats for sale and say for example "hides snowshoe cream." Then leave no pedigree link to be viewed by the potential buyer.

Hides is very confusing for new breeders, who easily trust those who have been doing it much longer and seem wiser.

My best advice .. never buy a cat because someone claims it "hides" without a pedigree link, as well if you aren't 100pct sure if it really does. Ask a friend to help.

Nothing makes me madder then a wet hen, or wet cat .. as when I see "My dad was a Bengal black." On a salt and pepper shown.

Sure Dad was a Bengal black .. but that doesn't mean anything .. the Recessive has come over top of the dominant .. black Bengal is lost... you will never get a Black Bengal from that unless you breed it with a Black Bengal or a Black Bengal proven hider and manage to breed out the black Bengal fur from the mate of the salt and pepper.

Just as the market is down right now I see a lot of cats misrepresented .. perhaps some just don't know better but I see names of other I know do.

We were all new breeders once, we all bought the wrong cats for the wrong prices once.

It just drives me batty when I see things like this .. I imagine some poor new breeder buying this cat with hopes and dreams of a fur .. and can never get one from the cat.
Wasting food and milk and feeling disappointment and questioning what they are doing wrong because they just don't understand. This cat's dad was a Black Bengal .. why am I not getting one?

I speak from experience on this, after being sold a cat I was told hid Bengal black that was a shown Salt and Pepper .. I started KittyCats right around the time the Christmas Cats came out. Someone even sold me a Silent Night Assuring me the costume was the fur and if bred right I would get that fur/costume on every kitten.

So I speak from the bitterness of someone who was a naïve new breeder, and out of concern for new breeders NOT to make my mistakes and waste the 10's of thousands of Lindens I did on bad cats. It wasn't until I found friends, they know they are who took the time to be patient and help me that I could afford to buy the newish .. furs because I wasn't wasting my money on poorly traited cats, feeding them all and opening all the boxes because they were so cute. It was only after meeting these people that I learned how to manage (almost) the addiction to at least get close to supporting my cats within sl and not having to put smoke on my credit card for the hobby I love.

That 5k you're charging someone for that cat that's only worth 700, that could be someone's coffee money for a week... you know come on people .. it's pretend money but it costs real money to buy.

Misrepresent a cat when you know better ... you might as well steal a kids lunch money or grab that old ladies purse. For all you know it is some kids lunch money.

Same goes for cats I see on bid boards stating "My Dad was a Mega." ... how nice .. so what ... sizes don't pass and there are people out there who do not yet understand this.

Those who don't know ... ask for help if you're not sure that cats worth 1500l
Those who know better stop it.
And look me up if you don't have anyone to ask .. if I'm online and you don't know if a cat hides something, or if its bs ... ask me .. I will help to the absolute best of my ability.

Am I kitty cats Guru? Far from it, but I'll share what I know.

I am tired of meeting people who have been taken advantage of, sold cats and told to breed them that they cannot even make kittens that would cover mom and dad's food if they actually managed to sell them.

Yes it is a buyer beware market, but I wish it didn't have to be for new breeders.

95 pct of people I have met and interact in kitty cats have been wonderful and gone out of their way to help me not make the mistakes I made as new breeders... It's the 5pct that really sour the pot.

Just My Two Cents

RE: DOn't Say HIDE!?!
I really wish there was more OBIOUS info about this released
maybe on the kittycats website to help protect ppl from making this mistake,
yes i am a victim of not knowing about this in the beginning,

I made the mistake of assuming it was more like rl than it is,
im kinda too smart for my own good and I tend to get in trouble sometimes
because I simply tend to over think things and make them more complicated
than they should be, and I know I'm not the only one who is like this.
I'm also very right brained and dyslexic and don't like to look at diagrams
for more than a few minutes cause it hurts my brain,
lemme just say that I HAD looked over everything twice and I found
this fact is really not obvious about kittycats,

I went 4 months before finding out about it, and the way i found out
was by being bombarded and badgered by more than one person at a time
at the bidboards in a very stressful way,
being accused of trying to fool ppl when you're the kind of person who would
never hurt a fly, kinda hurts, yeah it's actually kinda more than lame!

So I'm left feeling sad and broke after i have wasted a bunch of money
on having to refund ppl i mistakenly sold mislabeled cats and what not,
and that perhaps maybe this is leaving too much room for ppl to be shoddy,
there are the ones who definitely know better but maybe they can't help
themselves and just want to take advantage or perhaps they slip up and
make a typo or a mistake, I'm not naming any names I'm just making a
general statement, but all of it gives a real bad name for kittycats breeders
and whats worse is innocent newcomers like myslef will be perceived as
one of these shoddy ppl and just beacause they have no idea whats going on,

so yeah might help to say that its NOT exactly like rl and the 50/50 shuffling thing
from each parent needs to be explained in ten different ways for ALL the different
types of learners, cause thats NOT exactly how it is in real life, it is more like
shuffling of trillions of genetics from all your relatives in the past in rl and in
kittycats its just 50/50 between the two cats, thats a BIG difference,

and its clear to see why ppl who know nothing about the limits of programming
and script writing could easily assume that it is just like it is in RL and theres the
possibility for traist to be passed down from both sides of parents even dominant
ones, when it is NOT, it is NOT like THAT at ALL!!! and its not hard to see why
ppl would think it is naturally based on what they might already know about
breeding in RL. And so perhaps it really needs to be plastered all over the place
especially on the KC website for newcomers , since education really is the best
weapons against real scammers, perhaps someone should make a blog devoted to
JUST THIS.

or else when newcomers come they might get the wrong idea about kittycats
and the community, and perceive it as just a huge moneypit where everyone
dupes each other to take advantage, and nobody in kittycats I'm sure wants that
kinda negativity directed at our commerce. Just a thought .

Maybe as good citizens in this community we can all try to lend a hand in
gently reminding ppl about this and referring them to this forum INSTEAD
of arguing or just giving them links to the dominance charts that they
probably already have seen, and if they do seem new and really have no idea
what they r doing please don't assume they do, and that they are just trying
to take advantage, mislableing cats is one thing, but mislabeling ppl THAT
hurts someone more than I can say.

Better to be as polite as possible and gentle as possible while perhaps while you
assess how much this person may or may not actually know, whats important is
that they know that where you are coming from is a place of love and that you
are only there to help and take care of them not to be snarky uppity or rude.

Afterall a community is supposed to be all for one and one for all,
just thought that was standard Smile

That's why I said some people just don't know any different, sometimes it is just a misunderstanding.

And many many people would not refund that says something about you :0
