RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
I still think it's an amazing tool that will allow us to be able to trace back the pedigrees. It's all about the kitty. Especially the megapuss. Sure I have privacy concerns too, who doesn't. Simple solution, if you don't want your info displayed then don't sell them. If you do sell them, then your in a 'business' so don't be surprised if someone does business with you and wants to know how you conduct yours. Same philosophy about shopping, You had a bad experience and won't go back. Fine get over it and don't shop in that backyard anymore.

It's about the kitty and I will buy any kitty I see that meets my needs or I see at a good bargain. I simply base it on what is showing and what I can see that is hiding. Now if a kitty is priced at 5K and says it's hiding Foxie Salt & Pepper with no visible reference in the pedigree, then you bet you patootie I'm going to ask the owner for proof like a screenshot of the mother/dads offspring. Otherwise I have the choice to take a chance and buy it, knowing it MAYBE there or not. On the other hand if a seller does me wrong I won't buy even if I really want that kitty. Same as above I won't shop in that backyard.

P/S I would love to see the kitties farting flowers and a salt & pepper (even hiding) @ only 5K Wink

I love to be able to see who the breeder originally was of a certain line of cats I like just so I can vist his/ her store or contact them in person.
It gives much convenience as well to be able to access the pedigree of a cat we don't own anymore but have bred.
This gives more flexibility to sell parents/ grandparents while we remain to have access to their stats.
Personaly I would love to keep the change in showing the breeders and the owners name.

Ditto! I agree with youBig Grin

I didn't read thru even the first page of comments, tbh, because my views are simple. I'm proud of the cats I breed and sell and have no issues having people see that I bred them.

RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
I agree Liriel and I share your point of view but for what ever reason people have privacy issues which I feel should be respected also.
Sadly I have read the complete thread and the emotions clearly showed people fear for this to be activated for various reasons in which case I think this might not be a good idea after all.
I had hoped it would give us convenience in the sense we would be able to browse through pedigrees without a problem and see who a breeder of a favorite cat is so we can visit their shop etc. etc.
Sell parents and grandparents etc. without losing the rights to browse their pedigree and what not.
I really felt it was a great addition to the pedigree.
Today I spoke with someone who showed me her side of this and this was basically KC activated this without up front notice and she was really upset about this.
I can understand this as well as people might like to prepare themselves better if this becomes at all active concerning alts and such.
Therefore I feel better safe than sorry and maybe KC should time this better and with up front notice effective from a certain date for the new borns after this date if they are to do this at all.
I had no idea this tumult would happen otherwise I would just think: Ohw wow cool a new tool!
But it seems a big issue for some.
And eventhough most people who have voted for this like for this to become effective there is still about 27% (at the time of writing) who don't like this idea at all taking the "no name tags at all" voters and the "name tag" voters together.
Maybe this is a too big of a change to follow through if it backfires that much emotions.

Ok after reading this, honestly I go tmy own worries of a few things. first off i think its a good idea. Honestly I buy cats for what I need. not because of breeders. there are a few I avoid but that due to personal issues on behaviors I personally do not agree with. What concerns me is, I get the feeling people are more worried about being caught using alts with breeding and stuff. Why the major concern? Is it because A) you are doing something shadey? B) something is being hidden? Lets be honest if you are hiding breeding on alt, there is a reason. Because most are proud of their kittens and not afraid to put their name on the tag. Sad to say there is a shady side to breeding. People always looking for a angle to make money off others. Shrugs. my 2 cents anyway

RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
I don't use an alt. But I do know that not everyone that uses one does it for shady business. There are ppl that use them because one, it's easier to keep track of their kitties because maybe they have so many and so forth. Two they use that extra alt for peace and quiet. They may be popular and get many ims or a lot of attention when they go places.
So I can see why some wouldn't want everyone to know who their alts are. Not for shady business but for some privacy.

I won't be buying or probably not even selling anyway. I'm cutting my cattery down to around 10 or so of just the ones I want to keep. But for me it's an infringement. One name per kitty is enough. The other breeders names are on the parents, why can't that be enough?

Someone mentioned it can hurt the market. It can I'm just not sure how much impact it would have. There have been a number of ppl that have said many times they would rather buy from the original breeder. So the person that invested in a trait or traits will have a harder time making their investment back if more go to the original breeder rather than buy from them. This will also cause the value of those traits to drop faster, if they have to sell cheaper to make anything.

I'm really glad this thread happened when it did. I've had things going on in rl that I should be focusing on more than kitties. This thread really gave me what I needed to be able to do that. There are good ppl in this community, but more and more I see less good than I used to. There was a time when ppl were more thoughtful of each other and a lot less rude. There was a time when I wouldn't have lost my temper as I have here because I didn't feel like I was put on guard and felt I was surrounded by friends even if I didn't know them. I've seen a lot change in the past two years, and was able to accept it all because of the ppl in this community. I guess this was the last change and the one I can't accept.
