As part of this year’s HP Lovecraft* Annual Festival in Second Life we have organised a Kittycats benefit auction to raise funds for the charity AUTCOM (The National Committee for Autism). This is the third year the festival has supported AUTCOM but this is our first auction.
I can’t say this any better than Pretty Poison has said – so I will quote directly from her -
‘Behind every Avi is a human being. We've heard that and said it countless times. This is an opportunity for us, as a Community, to show recognition of this by acknowledging, supporting and bringing awareness of Autism.
This is more than just a special events auction, it's a affirmation that we do see and we do care for the humans behind the pixels. You can "Be the change you wish to see in the world" (Gandhi).’
Pretty Poison and Nino Heartsdale have kindly agreed to be our auctioneers on the night. Kayla Woodrunner has designed the event poster and Jhanelle Galtier has designed a collar that we will be selling all week to raise additional funds for AUTCOM.
You can help in two ways: one, some of you have donated some of your amazing cats to help us raise funds and two, come along on the night and support us. It will be a great evening. And we have LOTS of cats.
Oh, and thirdly – the collars – um, shall we say they perfectly in theme for a HP Lovecraft event – for those who aren't familiar with his work let’s just say tentacles feature in many of his works. But the collars are really cute – honestly. They will be available at the event and at my shop on the event sim throughout the festival. All proceeds to AUTCOM.

* Howard Phillips Lovecraft August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937), known as H. P. Lovecraft, was an American author who achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. Virtually unknown and only published in pulp magazines before he died in poverty, he is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre.
