Suggestion: official support for kitty box / kitty exchange.

Hello, today i did stumble into a discussion in the KittyCats group chat about kitty box/ kitty exchange.
I know its can work okay mostly between friends well with just exchange through inventory or both cats being rezzed set for sale for 0L at a mostly empty sanbox, or at their home, etc..... actually the discussion more was about exchange the kitty with a complete stranger also trust issues.
To be honest not even myself would exchange kitty with anyone random this way, "who will set their kitty or the box for sale for 0L$ first?". Inventory trade is a huge NO of course since they could give a fake object.

So..... yeah, why dont we have something like:

1. Exchange through the cattery, the registration is free on the website so the both person could send their kitty or box in the cattery, then one of the person offer their kitty for the other for exchange through or the cattery or lets say, through a new page section, the other get a notify about it on the webpage or something, the other person also has to offer something as well, one or more of their kitty/box what they sent in or maybe K$ as well. Then if the both person happy with the offered items, all what they need to do hit an accept button on the exchange page then use the cattery dock inworld for get their new kitty out.

2. Lets say there would be one or more exchange platform at the KittyCats sim and. both person would need rez their kitty or box on it, then the both person has touch the platform which would switch into occupied mode or something for during the exchange so no one else can bother it, also would offer a dialog menu for the both person, maybe a button for check the other's kitty /box pedigree, also an Exchange button which leads in another dialog menu where they being asked if they really want exchange their kitty. soon as the both person hit the yes, the both person's kitty being sent in the cattery but... the A person's cat will appear in the B person's cattery and the B person's cat will appear in the A person's cattery.
Then all what they have to do is rez out their cattery dock and bring their exchanged kitty/ box back into SL.

So, this way peoples dont have to fear about what if the other just trying to steal their cat which maybe happens since could be.

There is no way to do this in-world because it's a limitation of the SL permissions system. It might be possible to do in cattery, because then the actual cat object is nowhere in-world at that point.

But, I'll be honest, my first reaction is that it really shouldn't be needed. I've never once had an issue exchanging cats with someone, either in-world or via inventory. And that includes friends and people that I don't really know. People know darn well that their reputation is at stake. Screw one person over and everyone will find out and no one will ever trust you again.

This is a tight-knit community and word spreads fast. Most are very honest, to the point where I've had instances where a price was set too low by accident and every time the person not only noticed, but sent the extra immediately. I would do the same and so would most everyone that I know.

I hope that this may allay the fears of those who are new to this community, and make them more at ease with exchanging cats with others. I've never yet run into a problem, and I've been at this 2 years+.

I, too, have never had this problem either, everyone is always overly generous rather and overly honest! But if you really don't trust the person you can set the box to like 100 lindens, and have the other person do the same, that way if the person doesn't give you the box they were supposed to would loose 100 lindens, and you would get 100 lindens for the box. Or something, I dunno. But honestly, I've never had this problem, at all, especially not within kittycats

Actually i had no problem either, though usually i only done exchange breedables with friends
By the way actually i thought about the 100L$ priced kitty box too

Anyway i just come up with the idea since keep seeing similar feature with couple other breedables, also im sure there a bunch of nice peoples both here in the forum and in the trading groups, with the random peoples i more meant if someone have an offer outside gorup for example by overhearing your talk with a friend about KittyCats, etc.
I guess up to the devs if they will think this is a good idea and should be implemented or not, i mean i searched in the forum and there was no topic like this at las i didn't found any, so i assumed there is not much or any complaints about scammers. So simply i just think a feature like that could be useful.

The "Kittycats Only Swappers and Givers" is well over two years old now and i can only remember a couple of issues to do with swapping ever occurring, and these incidents were certainly sorted out pretty quickly.
Personally i've never had any trouble at all, i just drop the box or kitty in IM and the other person sends back the swap so i really don't think any newcomers need have any worries about this; you'll all soon realise how very tightly knit this community is and that no one is able to get away with any kind of dodgy dealings for long.

I have never had a problem but as our community grows I can see it becoming attractive to those with not as many scruples or who don't really care about their reputation.

One thing I would suggest is to find a impartial trusted third party maybe an auctioneer, group owner, CSR, well known breeder, ect. to handle the trade with both parties sending their cats or boxes and the third party transferring them once they have both and have confirmed that they are both proper.

Think the third party option with an unbiased/neutral party is a great idea Sanura and surely the one to solve this easily. However like everyone else I have always found the whole KC community to be both fair and honest and have never encountered an issue like this or heard of anyone else that has.

Good point, Sanu. And excellent idea too. I probably wouldn't lay it on the CSRs, simply because they're so busy as it is, but most market sims have a staff of people that could facilitate this sort of thing if two parties wanted help.
