Floozy cats! - Winter Phoenix - 05-25-2013 03:21 AM

So I've got the cat chat running up in the corner and somebody says

" Can unpartnered kittycats really have a box together?"

And somebody replies:

" why yes, of course, Ive had it happen many times!"

And I was stunned!!

KITTEH FLOOZIES???????

Ive had thirty cats wandering about the yard at one time,
and NEVER did anybody misbehave and go having kittens out of wedlock!

Maybe these other owners cats had no manners!!

I found this news alarming,
but when I asked for someone to provide documentation on this anomoly,
I got snotty remarks,
and was accused of being hostile
FOR QUESTIONING THEIR AUTHORITY!
Lame.
Some nice person finally posted a page from the instruction manual,
so I was able to avoid further abuse from the know it all crowd!

Anyway, so how often does this actually happen??
Do you often find an unwanted box out on the lawn??
This was news to me! lol

Hi Winter,

Indeed, KittyCatS don't need to be partnered to have a kitten.
As long as both cats are owned by the same person, are in range of each other and at the right stats, it might happy anytime.

With the advent of the Cattery, it's possible to become confused on this point because cats in the Cattery do NOT randomly choose partners.

Think of the Cattery as a series of cages which separate your cats. Only if you "partner" them .. that is, put both partners in the same cage .. will they mate.

In-world, as in real life, they can wander at will, so unwanted matings often occur.

Thanks to Nenya and Tod for their prompt POLITE responses!

I respect that.

For those others I think I need to start carrying my chicken launcher!

Welcome to KittyCats! You'll learn who to obey in due time. There is a hierarchy of leadership. Basically if you don't respect the Pawfessor, you'll be ousted by the community.

Pawfessor???
Are you talking about Liriel Garnet??
I think she's HOT!

No, it has nothing to do with Liriel,
she knows what she's talking about,
AND SHE GIVES ME DOCUMENTATION!

Your not implying she has a mafia style cabal of minions
that ostracize people????

Did I mention I think she's hot?

I've never actually seen her,
but her knowlege of kitteh genetic engineering
TURNS ME ON!

I could say the same thing about Tad,
but that would be real friggin' awkward.

No, this issue was just somebody with a lack of self esteem
who thought I was picking on them.
It happens cus I often FORGET TO TURN THE CAPS LOCK OFF Wink

I once saw a girl kitty at the Love Shacks at Too Adorable who had a box next to her and whose love had dropped to zero. I suppose the owner had put a boy at 100% in the Love Shacks as well and had both cats set to roam the whole parcel (although set to pose). The mother cat seemed, well, to be showing an independent nature.

Kitties can't both pose and roam. If they're posed, they stay put.

However, I learned the hard way that even if a girl is posed on the 100% girl table, she can have a kitty with some random boy on the 100% boy table IF when I first put her down, it was by the boy table.

I rezzed a girl next to the boy table, then moved her over to the girl table, thinking that it was only proximity that made them breed, but proximity is determined by their home spot, not their actual location, so she had an unplanned box.

I found that hard to explain. I hope it's making sense.
