Threads Rating and Fairness - Sara Franco - 10-10-2012 08:13 PM I've noticed lately that some rate others posts about their offered cats for sale negatively for no obvious reason. Also some rate a whole action thread the same way. This may give an impression to the reader that the seller got a problem or mistrusted or the cat is not good when it is just that they didn't like the price either it is fair or not. And sometimes they do it because they are competing with them? that's completely silly. So I suggest rating should be with a message or a written reason like in marketplace reviews. Also I think the poster shouldn't be able to rate his own threads. Anyway I think it really doesn't fit in our nice community to rate each others posts this way for personal reasons or out of competition, it makes me feel bad when I see others posts rated this way not only mine, please be fair and honest. Thank you. RE: Threads Rating - Serena Stroikavskoi - 10-10-2012 08:31 PM It really is silly to rate post. What I like you may not. I like th must more 'thanks' button or a mod they call "helpful" which goes to a post if it was helpful or not. Yes exactly especially when someone is posting a cat for sale or an auction because that gives a bad impression about the seller or the auctioneer, when the reason for the rating is a personal point of view or competition. If the seller is providing wrong info I would understand but otherwise it is not fair. RE: Threads Rating - Stormrunner Laval - 10-11-2012 08:34 AM I had this happen to my post where I'm selling love drops, vitamins and portable food. Someone rated it 1 star even though my prices are under what the main KittyCat store is. It confused me as to why . Yes I noticed some do it for any big sales because they don't like low prices, I believe any of us is free to choose the price to sell at, it is still a personal point of view. I had a post rated at 1 star where I'm selling a cat with a new trait for example, and the price is the market one, definitively is not low and not overpriced I believe from what I see in the market. So if they don't like the price personally or can't afford it they have the right to give a 1 star? I wouldn't do that. I sadly had to think about competition as a reason for negative rating especially when I see a thread about a whole action rated negatively as it involves many different cats and if they don't like the auctioneer personally also it is not fair, I'm not an auctioneer but it still gets me to see their posts rated negatively for no obvious reason. And if you notice it is always a 1 star not 2 or 3 when others rate positive it goes up but the unclear negative rating is usually a 1 star, doesn't seem fair. RE: Threads Rating and Fairness - Kayleigh McMillan - 10-11-2012 11:17 AM While I see the rating system can be used with not fully transparant reasons and intentions I feel also it can help for people to add their weight on a post in a safe way. After all if a post is ranked low and this is clearly not fair I think we are all smart enough to look through that. I believe such systems are inharent to forums in general and I believe also these options are there for a reason. I'm affraid we can't completely eliminate the unwanted aspects of it. I have seen the clearly not fair low ranked posts as well lately but I never thought less of someone purely based on a low ranked post. Yes I agree, I wouldn't ask to remove rating but probably if it forces posting a reason with it, it may help. Perhaps this could help but I see downsides in this as well. Maybe people get hurt even more as they feel attacked person to person. Yes right but why should people attack each others anyway? Nothing really deserves this, unless the poster cheated on them or something.
