It means the cat has either 4 traits that are not genesis + a non genesis fur
or 5 traits + a non genesis fur.
This depends on if the owner of the cat qualifies the fur as a trait or not.
(Traits are non genesis colors for the eyes, mysterious shape for the eyes as well as small pupils, non genesis shade &/or non genesis ears &/or non genesis tail)

so are there lists somewhere that tell me what characteristics are genesis and which aren't?

How many traits would that count as? I'd guess four including the fur...
