I know its not a exact math but i am trying to pull the Snowshoe - Chocolate from this pair and it pulled the ruddy instead....

i know the rank of order has the ruddy just 1 step past the choch. but its also got the * next to it which means is not 100% correct, or may be close to it anyway.....
my question is shouldnt that have pulled the choch if the rank was right or did it just manage to pull a higher trait because my chocolate's hiding a higher fur?
only reason im asking is im rather new to this still and trying to understand completely whats going on.... and maybe this would help set the rank of that fur better as well for other breeders?
any input i would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Thor!
A quick assessment would make it appear as tho the Aby Ruddy fur is one step more dominant than the Snow Chocolate rather than one step more recessive. HOWEVER -- and that's a very big however -- unless we know for sure that the Snow Chocolate is not hiding a more recessive fur, then it's not definitive.
A couple of questions:
1) has I'm Sexy ever had a box with a fur more recessive than the chocolate (not counting the ruddy which is in question, of course)?
2) if you look further back in I'm Sexy's pedigree, do you see a more recessive fur, especially one that would match a fur that fits with the answer to #1?
With answers to those, we can take a closer look. Also, a definitive test would be to breed the box with a more recessive fur a couple of times to see if you can pull the
Snow Choccy back from under the Aby Ruddy.

Thanks for the reply and kinda what i was thinking, sadly i dont know the full bio of im sexy .... im going to give it 1 more go and see what the next box pops out and go from there first, and if it pulls another ruddy then i WILL def pull one box and pair with a more dominate fur and see what comes out that way, ill keep you posted....

I've gotten Ruddy from a pair of Snowshoe Chocolates so the Ruddy has to be more recessive then the Snowshoe Chocolate.

Funny thing about flipping a coin. You may WANT Heads but the coin can stubbornly refuse to throw anything but Tails!
Just because the odds are 50% that you'll get that Snowshoe Chocolate hiding Abyssinian Ruddy you say you want doesn't mean you'll get it in the first, or even second, third, fourth ... box. It's random. And that means it won't just flip Heads, then Tails, then Heads ... you can get surprisingly long runs of Tails ... but the AVERAGE, over a large number of tosses is 50% Heads/50% Tails. This is the same as other posts where one suddenly gets a long string of Males when they want a Female.
If you still want that Snowshoe Chocolate hiding Abyssinian Ruddy from this pair, keep at it, sometime it should pop out for you.
