KittyCat of the Month - Vilandra Miles - 12-15-2011 12:12 PM ... Jehova ... I really like the idea of the KittyCat of the month, but so far all cats that had been choosen to become the goal kitty are cats I personally won't feed even a day. I'm sorry, but I'm breeding these furballs since the very first day and my goals are (sorry to say so) higher... I understand that the KittyCat of the Month is probably aimed at "younger" breeders, but I personally for once would enjoy a real challenge once in a while too. So... maybe you could consider giving us "older" breeders some kind of a challenge we could join in on so we could also enjoy the contest? I'm not saying the KittyCat of the Month needs to be 9-traited rare-of-the-rarest like every month... But maybe once in a while the KittyCat of the Month could be something like... I don't know... Perfect Gerbera on a Tawny etc. or something the like? Just my two cents... and now you can throw rocks at me. ![]() Vila RE: KittyCat of the Month - Kristyn23 Resident - 12-15-2011 07:10 PM ..throws rocks.. LOL, Just kidding! RE: KittyCat of the Month - anna Acanthus - 12-18-2011 02:46 AM Well i prefer throwing rotten tomatos at people but i won't here cuz i can but agree. The only way i'd produce the kitty of the month would be if i had it ready made in my boxes . The effort and L$ required to try breed it out plus having to menagerie practically trait less kitties all afterwards is just so not worth the pain and outside chance of winning just a jewel. In fact i've allways felt slightly uneasy about the throw-away consumer side of breeding and SL commerce in general for that matter. Anyhow it's true ... why not a kitty that has good traits and at least 6 of them that we would be using after having bred for the contest. I haven't even been vaguely tempted to try yet. RE: KittyCat of the Month - Kayleigh McMillan - 12-18-2011 03:54 PM I initiallly liked the kitty of the month idea but since the gems are so rare I never got one dropped via normal breeding I'm less motivated to join this monthly challenge. I have a maximum amount of cats I like to have and feed and I stay below this amount even in case I need the extra space for wrong genders to wait for a partner. And as Anna is saying waisting breeds is not what I desire. If I don't like to breed a cat I don't do it even if it is the kitty of the month. So I tend to ignore the gems hype. The rarity gives a feeling of a completely unreachable fenomenon which makes it sort of pointless to me. RE: KittyCat of the Month - Saga Felix - 12-19-2011 01:46 PM I tried for the KittyCat of the Month the very first time - mainly because I had a red Tabby w. Grape Ice and Plush laying around in my inventory anyway ![]() ![]() Since then, I haven't tried a single time. Both for the reasons Vilandra states, and for the reasons Kayleigh mentions. I too jumped off the gem-hype and gave up. -And can't see any reason to start breeding 3-traited Snowshoe Lilacs (or whatever it is this month) - Heck, those were going out of fashion by the time I started with KittyCats! lol So yes, I agree - but can also see it from the opposite point, I must admit! -IF you made a KittyCat of the Month to be Tawny w. perfect gerbera eyes, I probably wouldn't participate either! -Why? -Because I only got ONE tawny (Ozzy!! <3 <3 <3 ![]() ![]() All in all, I imagine there'd be fewer participants if you follow Vilandra's suggestion... BUT... I still agree with her to a degree... so, hmm - how about trying to up the challenge just once, and then if it works out fine, maybe you could do it now and then, inbteween the 3-traited tabbies etc...? ;-) RE: KittyCat of the Month - Vilandra Miles - 12-19-2011 03:34 PM I just wanna add... the Tawny with Perfect Gerbera was a blind pick. It could be anything else also. How about a beautifully 7-8traited Siam Choc or an harmonic looking Bengal Snow? I'm fine with the rocks being thrown my way as I said *lol*, but don't nail me on that Tawny suggestion please. ^^ Besides: I would like to participate in the KittyCat of the Month challenge. Not because of the jewels. I don't care about those stupid things. (Seriously? For a costume wearing genesis cat? Sorry, I consider myself a breeder, not a collector.) To me joining in the KittyCat of the Month would be for the challenge itself, to have a certain goal and to see if I could - if I wanted - breed something especially named out within the time given. Kinda like a game within the game. ![]() RE: KittyCat of the Month - Nenya Eun - 12-20-2011 03:14 AM I don't think the KittyCatS of the month should be so challenging, that would totally defeat the purpose and close the competition for 95% of the KittyCatS community. So adding a trait or two, ok, but not things so rare that most of the breeders (especially new ones) have never heard of. Also, feeding a couple cats more when one already breeds 50 or more shouldn't be an issue. I know the gems / Fancie cat thingie is quite frustrating because gems are so (too ?) rare, I gave up too. Still, breeder or collector (I do think you can be both, why wouldn't it be possible ?), most people would like to have a Fancie cat just because they are cute. (Also don't forget they can pass their special eyes !) Nen RE: KittyCat of the Month - Rocky Balzibo - 12-25-2011 06:56 PM I also think this competition should be upped in traits or something more rare, no point for me to breed for a cat that you cant sell. Then again, I probarbly wouldnt join this KC of the month contest even if it was upped to more traits or something more rare, unless i already got whats needed in my breeding program. So with that being said, to me personally it doesnt matter much what the KC of the month is, I just wanted to give my opinion ![]() RE: KittyCat of the Month - Kayleigh McMillan - 12-30-2011 06:03 PM (12-25-2011 06:56 PM)Rocky Balzibo Wrote: I also think this competition should be upped in traits or something more rare, no point for me to breed for a cat that you cant sell. I fully agree it doesn't matter to me what the Kitty of the month is unless I was already breeding it I would not join. I have bred the 1-st kitty of the month or I tried LOL. Damn it isn't as easy to have all traits perfect as specified and I thought I did have the winning team ![]() Not worth the effort for me I love it way better to breed what I want and what I think looks cute. |
