jewels: frequency? - Morgan Northmead - 03-03-2015 01:10 PM How often do jewels show up when cats are bred? So far, I have only seen one from around 100 boxes. Is this normal? RE: jewels: frequency? - Tad Carlucci - 03-03-2015 02:15 PM I'd put the average a lot closer to 0. I'm not joking. 1 in 100 would, I expect, be considered phenomenally lucky. So, don't expect it to hold. My guess would be more like in the range 1 in 500 to 1 in 1000. And that's just a guess. RE: jewels: frequency? - MsMagick Resident - 03-03-2015 07:52 PM I've been told that you're lucky if you ever get one. It seems the only dependable way to get gems is to get a Fancie another way (by buying one or buying the gems to turn in for one), and then breeding him/her. RE: jewels: frequency? - Aubreygrace Starlight - 03-04-2015 10:51 AM I have gotten probably 3-4 in the year and a half i have been breeding. My daughter just got 2 in 2 weeks, so i guess it's just as random as the sizes are. RE: jewels: frequency? - Ivy Norsk - 03-04-2015 11:10 AM I went for 8 or so months without getting any and then got 2 in 2 weeks also. So, it's just rare and random. RE: jewels: frequency? - Winter Phoenix - 03-08-2015 02:35 PM Jewels are rewards for the mass production breeding farms. Though you may get lucky and get a jewel on the first breeding you ever do, seeing more than that will require Publishers clearing house luck. Which is kinda like getting hit by lightning while you're being eaten by a shark as you are flying from Chicago to Dallas on a passenger jet. The only way I'm ever gonna see a fancy jewel cat is to buy a bunch of jewels. Once you have the jewel cat, they give free jewels with every box. So your costs are subsidized! Your overblown crazy high costs! Fancy jewel cats are the bling of the KittyCatS elite! But you can dream big! RE: jewels: frequency? - MsMagick Resident - 03-09-2015 12:28 AM I guess I'm elitist because I think Bengal Indigo Indulgence and Lavendar Dream Ocicat are absolutely gorgeous then. You can either sit around and complain, or you can work to get what you want. I'm doing the second. RE: jewels: frequency? - Ivy Norsk - 03-09-2015 11:49 AM But of course the Bengal Indigo Indulgence and the Lavendar Dream Ocicat are gorgeous. They are designed to be. They are also deliberately designed to be rare and only attainable by a country-club elite of large breeders. Or you can pay for them. This is by design to encourage more breeding (buy more catfood). There is no need to pretend that this isn't the case. MsMagick Wrote:You can either sit around and complain, or you can work to get what you want. I'm doing the second. Most of us, the vast majority of us, do KittyCats as a hobby, though there are a few - a very few - people who do it as "work". I would just advise everybody to know your budget, and stick with it. Generally speaking, KittyCats is not a money maker. If you can and want to bring in RL money to buy the cat of your dreams, go for it. Your decision. Elite/elitist not the same thing - Winter Phoenix - 03-09-2015 03:41 PM (03-09-2015 12:28 AM)MsMagick Resident Wrote: Admiring the Bengal Indigo or Lavender dream, does not make one a member of the elite. Having scored them both by breeding 50,000 pairs would! Its not a derogatory statement towards those with a pile of jewels. The Fancy Jewel Cat Elite deserve the reward for simply having the fortitude and resources to pull off the stunt! |
