"Don't let 2 people tell her what all breeders want.
Have a nice day!

hmmmmm ironic wouldn't you say?

Well actually tools being used do not determine a free market...a free market is defined as a system in which the prices for goods and services are determined by the open market and the consumers in that market (which would be any KittyCats Breeder or Collector), in which the laws and forces of supply and demand are free from any intervention (which is true we all set our own prices) by a government, price-setting monopoly, or other authority. So while to tool may not be used by everyone in SL, the use of the website does not harm the free market. Now I do agree that to force pricing is not a good thing, it needs to be opted out of for those that do not wish their prices known.

I liken it to this: Lets look at the price of Milk. Almost every store carries it, and in different varieties. No one shouts out their prices, we depend on what we consider "regular" prices or an informed purchase. Now if a store is selling it cheaper we have no idea, thus we do not have the freedom to decide where to purchase as we are dependent on the prices that we are used to. We are also creatures of habit and purchase from the same store all the time. So I enjoyed the price option, but to force it is a bad idea.

I have used your site often and it is a great place to find exactly what we are looking for. I greatly appreciate Callie and all who work to keep us as breeders and sellers working together. There is nothing I look forward to more in second life than working and playing with our KittyCatS and satisfying my customers!
I would hope this can be prevented as due to illness in real life my time online is limited and this helps me find what I need so much easier. I have to confess although I tp to the cats I find there I do browse the other surrounding stores around the store I buy from. Maybe just removing the prices would make things better and I do hope you and the KittyCatS staff can find a good solution for us all.
Thank you Rene for all you've done to make it so much easier and more fun to shop. I will be saddened if you stop what you are doing. Hugs to all my KittyCatS friends!

Personally I will post all my prices and I'll shop only stores which post their prices as well. My preference. However perhaps if Rene will allow posting or not, then Callie will allow the webmarket to continue.

However as to your second point...Free markets have always operated with advertising services which are provided for a fee and are not available to everyone. Or to word it another way, Rene's service is available to every seller who choses to pay for the profiler system, and for free to every buyer.

@Callie, thanks for weighing in and I'm happy to know you are following this thread as I consider it of vital importance to my continued enjoyment of the KittyCats! product.

I'm afraid you are mistaken.

Quote:free market
noun
an economic system in which prices are determined by unrestricted competition between privately owned businesses.

Kittycats.info is not a free market, but an advertising service for those who choose to buy a specific tool and use it in a specific way.

The secondary KittyCats markets would have been free markets if competition wasn't restricted by said service.

I think the profiler tool was one of the most useful things for our KittyCats breeding, sales, auctions and so on. But the tool is just that - a tool.
Just as I cannot buy a car and then be told where I'm allowed to drive it, same goes for how I use a tool or what funcitonalities I find useful

Being "forced" to put prices is inconsistent with the way I like to do business. There may be cats I want to show prices for, others not, and I may wish people to come see my store rather than just reading a price on a web page but wish to show it in a different occasion.

Once I have purchased a tool I believe it is mine to use, without limit of where, or how to use it. This is yet another way to control the market, this time with a petty whine sayong you'll use the profilers how I want you to or... I'm taking my toys and going home.

I'll add my 2 cents...

I have mixed feelings about the market. While I have used it many times to feed my mega addiction, as it is so much easier to track down a cat with particular traits, I am constantly frustrated to teleport to a location only to find the cat really isn't for sale and the owner is either using their board for their own tracking purposes or simply to brag. I was surprised to see the addition of prices to the listings, but that at least assured the cat was truly for sale. I have asked KC several times to implement their own market like those seen in several breedables across the grid. It is an extremely useful resource and I honestly think helps the grid markets as it encourages traffic they might otherwise not receive. I simply don't have the time to stroll each and every grid market looking for the cat I want, and some markets get overlooked because of it. With the volume of cats on the grid and number of markets in business, it just makes sense to have a resource such as this. If this one is brought down, I sincerely hope KC reconsiders their own web market for us.

As Monday pointed out, advertising does not have to be for free, although some may offer it that way, and merchants who can afford to pay for more advertising do get higher visibility than those who cannot afford it. That is indeed a part of the free market. There is a separate issue though, about the use of KittyCats images without consent of the company. The profilers and the web market depend upon the use of those images. The KC company can place limits on the use of their images. Whether they should do so is a separate question from whether they can.

i think you should leave it be and not put prices on only if the seller wants to . its too much of a loss for breeder if this place shuts down

Rene ...with risk of being cut off of the profilers yet again, I have to stand up for Callie. I had this discussion with you ages ago and you were not kind in your reaction You cut me off from my profiler that I paid for ...and my group profilers that I payed for. Several people had to beg to get them reinstated for me. And you offered no refund. This PRODUCT IS ILLEGALLY MADE. I have been saying it all along. AND I HAVE BEEN FORCED INTO USING THEM, at my auctions. Market owners have been told their entire group profilers for the sim will be cut off if they don't make me use them or if THEY don't use them. Miss Pretty was told to be quiet when she brought this up and the same thing happened to her. ANYway...it is what it is and it is ILLEGAL and I am frankly GLAD they are finally threatening you to shut them down.

The idea that I buy a product that I can't use the way I want is one thing, but the fact is now we all know that it is illegal to use these photo's...copy right law... and to list prices or a BUSINESS WOMAN LIKE CALLIE WOULD NOT BE THREATENING RENE. The fact that CALLIE WHO IS THE OWNER has not given him permission means that he is breaking the law.
SHAME on those of you who should know better to gang up on Callie. She is the CREATOR of KITTY CATS. SHE has the final say with regards to her WORK.

I know you don't want to hear this but these profilers have single handedly eliminated the need for people to go and walk through the sims. They may seem to bring buyers but there were plenty of buyers before. If its better now and easier to find because of the profilers why are the prices of cats at the lowest they have ever been? It all started with these profilers. Largely the drop in value is because NO ONE has to take the time to go to the sims. AND it makes it easier to drop prices to compete for business. AND its gone too far. I also think that is has made some people THINK they are auctioneers. But GOD help them if they have to actually read a real pedigree. KITTY CATS DID WAY BETTER before the profilers. You may not know that if you are new but trust me they did. We had higher all around prices...the market sims were hopping, people actually brought great cats to auctions and they sold for what they are worth. SO I AM TOTALLY FOR YOU CALLIE AND KITTY CATS. I support this decision all the way.

And Now I am expecting to get my profilers shut down but don't punish Uni or Peaches for this ...I am on my own here. AND YOU READERS...if you think so much of RENE...KEEP HIM ACCOUNTABLE THAT WHILE THEY ARE STILL ON PEACHES AND UNI's SIMS are not being harassed because of my support for CALLIE .
