RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Tad Carlucci - 02-12-2014 10:45 AM Did I? Boy am I embarrassed. I've always been a big proponent of using the Cattery to reduce costs. What I thought I saw was a suggestion that Menagerie be used to end partnerships early. I think I was initially (months ago) in favor of it, but I've realized it's not going to work and should not occur because of unintended consequences. But if we're looking for suggestions to reduce costs, I have three: Use the Cattery; Set a Budget; and Have a Plan. RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Nocshadue Balbozar - 02-12-2014 12:17 PM There is another thing I was thinking as I was reading this thread. Ya know, I tend to be a spender rather than a saver so.. if KC lowered food costs etc, I would probably not put that money in my pocket, I'd probably increase the number of cats I have breeding. So that's fine for KC as they wouldn't really lose anything, but what about the market in general? There are already lots of boxes out there, and with new breeders joining all the time isn't it increasing? I know people drop out too, but it seems to me, it's still growing. I guess if you're not concerned with selling, a price cut would be great. I think the costs are a bit high too, but I just wonder if it would have an effect on the market. When I first started with breeding kitties I admit I got sucked up in all the lovely kitties and traits I wanted to breed and had basically too many breeders running. Sentimental reasons played a role as well I simply couldn't menagerie that cute kitty so I kept it. Later on I realized it was very important to become less sentimental and more selective what I was breeding/ feeding and not. Perhaps this is the best advice to really have a budget and a plan and evaluate your cattery. I know that can be tough and we don't want to look at our kitties like that but we have to I'm afraid. RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Tad Carlucci - 02-13-2014 10:58 AM I've been dinged for not staying on topic for this thread. I apologize for posting the suggestions about using the Cattery, making a Budget and Planning. This was, indeed, off topic. In future, I will try to stay on topic here and limit my comments to those costs we think the company should adjust. So, from the OP Quote:One cost that i think especially should go, is needing to break up partnerships when one cat turns 120+. I feel that should be automatic, immediate, and free.1) I agree, partnerships should automatically end when one or both partners attain 121 days of age. 2) I disagree that there should be automatic ending of partnerships upon Menagerie. This back-doors making the early end of a partnership free. 3) I agree that the cost of permanent pets is too high, and that there should be a free permanent pet feature. I do not think it should be time-based, but, instead, should be food-cost based. I think the cost of a pet kit should slide from the current full price for boxes and newborns, to zero for those cats which have consumed the equivalent of 120 days of kibbles. No, this would not help me. Most of the few cats I own would take 200 or so days at non-breeding food level to meet this requirement. 4) I disagree that there should be automatic ending of partnerships upon Menagerie. This back-doors making the early end of a partnership free. 5) Sales would be good. But remember: a sale is only a savings if its occasional. a "30% Off Sale, Everyday" isn't a sale, it's a price reduction. If they do do sales and you want more of them: be honest and just ask for a price reduction. RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Lunaria Eclipse - 02-18-2014 09:16 AM Perma Petting is outrageously high. 1500ls for one cat is astronomical, we feed them til they are bred out I feel that should be enough and they should be auto pets after that. To charge 1500 each cat we are better off shoving in inventory. I think perma petting should be way lower or not at all instant pet if you want it to be. I see it as 1500 I could spend on new cats to birth and feed. RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Tressa Beaumont - 02-18-2014 12:08 PM (02-12-2014 10:45 AM)Tad Carlucci Wrote: Did I? Boy am I embarrassed. Lol hey Tad get with the program, i know how I can cut costs, what i am suggesting is that Kittycats consider cutting some costs for its clientele so it is a bit easier on the pocket ...
RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - MiuKitten Resident - 02-18-2014 05:20 PM I remember back long ago when there was a perma-solution sale and it was great. I would love to see that again, or a permanent price reduction. After keeping and caring for the cats for 120 days it seems like their retirement should not be prohibitively expensive.
RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Tawnni Tigerpaw - 02-24-2014 06:41 PM I would also like if permapet cost was lower. I do the same, put them in inventory my faves (esp Teacups and sizes that I know I might not get with those traits again) that are past 120 and label them pets in the hope of bringing them out one day but no, they are still sitting there lol. I do this too, put them in my inventory for them to wait for me to afford the permapet And I started to permapet mine! It's all about priorities, do you rather wanna buy milk for your cats or save that linden and buy permapetpots for your cats? I decided on permapet And now slowly and steadily as I save up I can permapet them, one at a time
RE: Making Costs for Breeders A Bit Lower - Tawnni Tigerpaw - 02-28-2014 10:43 AM Yes, I am doing the same, each month I permapet one pet, usually a Mega My cost is not due to milk but because I have so many kitties to feed, 300+ O.O lol. I seriously need intervention lol
