RE: Breeder names on Pedigrees - Vrem Vaniva - 07-16-2014 09:50 AM I'd like to see breeder names in all pedigrees, and not have pedigrees hidden (and not have to check the box for each cat to "enable inworld pedigree" -- why would I want to hide that?) What's disturbing here is that apparently, one gets penalized somehow for using purchased cats in one's breeding program. If I bought a cat, am I going to face snobbery when I go to sell one of its kittens? Must every "good breed" have come "from scratch"? It seems to me that we're helping to oil the gears of the whole system, when we buy others' cats. Same with "buying two kitten boxes, breeding them together, and selling the offspring." What is wrong with that? If it's a brilliant match, the offspring might be a brilliant kitten. Let's oppose the snobbery rather than trying to get KC to fix it? My starter now shows "You" as the breeder. http://gyazo.com/a45e58b4e1d7b9262bfb47a73a770e98
RE: Breeder names on Pedigrees - Tad Carlucci - 07-20-2014 11:23 AM Breed to the grand-kids, so it shows as a grand-parent. Pass a grandkid to an alt. It will show "Someone Else" and there is no way to tell it was a starter since you can't see that there are no great-grandparents above, ever. When I made the OP, Charm had been shopping and several of the cats she looked at claimed facts which could only be true if one of the grandparents was a starter, and there was no way to verify that fact. Hence the suggestion that KittyCatS Resident be the Breeder for starters. For offspring (non-starters, sic) I'm leaning toward wanting to see the actual avatar name. Most of the time, it will help, and won't cause problems. But I'm cautious because it has, in the past, lead to some conflict where the breeder was getting unwanted queries from random people. But, it would sure help Charm out a lot if she knew which alt produced a box so she knows who to pass it back to to see the parts of the Pedigree View she can't see as Charm. |
