RE: Breeders Tips Tricks and Advice - anna Acanthus - 09-23-2012 07:08 AM No Tad, i meant just what i said, but probably should have phrased it as " the odds against a cat passing it's recessive hidden as a hidden, and systematically through several generations, are much higher." LOL I have to say I did understand you rigth away. This thread becomes a little hard to understand on some levels tbh I picture a new breeder reading this all and I think it might be a littlebit of a discouragement especially for a non English new breeder. KittyCatS has international fans. RE: Breeders Tips Tricks and Advice - Devilness Chant - 09-23-2012 07:36 AM ooooooooooook maybe I should just start another thread that has more to do with the "ways" we breed our kitties and the "fun" and "funny" things we've picked up along the way? I realize for some the math part of breeding is what's fun. But I never intended for it to be a peeing contest of right and wrong, exact numbers and percentages. For those who like the analytical part of kitties please feel free to use this thread and enjoy. But play nice. I for one am going to open another thread that I hope will work out the way i intended this one to be. Simple easy to understand facts to help breeders make their goals and understand the ways of the kitties and Santa Server. And to hopefully have some laughs along the way. As I put on my freshly washed lucky pants I bid you farewell and hope to see you in the other thread. RE: Breeders Tips Tricks and Advice - Tad Carlucci - 09-23-2012 01:34 PM For the odds of a cat passing its recessive as a hidden, and for those odds to be higher as you go down the generations, you need to ensure that you never breed that cat's offspring to anything showing, or hiding, anything more recessive than the hidden. This is akin to saying the odds of tossing heads instead of tails go way up when you use a coin with both sides showing heads. RE: Breeders Tips Tricks and Advice - anna Acanthus - 09-23-2012 02:28 PM Well it's pretty obvious even to me that if you breed it with a partner SHOWING a more recessive trait then this trait will take over as the hidden recessive whether it pulls or not the hidden trait from the other. However if bred with a partner HIDING a more recessive trait this won't have an effect on the outcome if this partner's shown is dominant to our carrier's shown and that the OS shows this dominant. CQFD (Google is your friend ) RE: Technical Breeding Tips and Advice - Tad Carlucci - 10-17-2012 09:57 PM . . . . . RE: Technical Breeding Tips and Advice - anna Acanthus - 05-26-2014 06:58 AM Bumping this useful thread still in the forum stats to rescue it before it gets shoved off into oblivion by all those spam threads. And Dev, if by any chance you peek in, you're badly missed by many. Hope all is well for you RE: Technical Breeding Tips and Advice - Kayleigh McMillan - 05-26-2014 07:43 AM I've read this thread since you bumped it Anna what fun to see stuff from smelly lucky pants till odds and everything in between RE: Technical Breeding Tips and Advice - Malayaa Resident - 05-26-2014 07:47 AM Misses Dev too!
