OK, so one auction out of HOW MANY?? has set a rule you must own both parents and at least one set of grandparents to sell that specific cat at their auction. That's how they want it, that's what they think is best for their auction. You don't have to auction there. Some auctions allow boxes, others don't. Some allow older kitties, other's don't. Almost all seem to have a certain number of shown traits as a requirement, doesn't that exclude some people too? No one is forcing anyone to sell at a certain auction. Not all of my cats would fit the rule in question either. I tend to get a pair of kitties l like and make a ton of boxes then open a pair of siblings when the parents are about aged out. So in that case, ya it may be a while before I'd sell that line in that auction. But it could also be done in about a month if I open first box and breed back.
But I have to say what amazes me is out of this ONE auction setting a certain rule, we have people afraid to sell their cats???? That makes no sense to me. I would just go to another auction.
Anyway..sorry to stray off topic. I just wanted to clarify that the rule in question was just from one auction.
I think what sanura is trying too say (me thinks so anyways
) is this rule that this auctioneer is doing is based on the del thread "what is protocol" that was very much so hijacked by peeps that had a point too prove, and the said auctioneer took it upon there self too make a rule based on this, that in my view and my only was dam right wrong.

This is mot a TOOL to hunt ALTS, IF you like to use it to do so, thats YOUR problem. And honestly whats the point of the stupid alt hunt? Its like 1700 cent witchhunt?? Is it anything wrong with alts? NO it only matthers how you use them! So stop acting like all alts are some Aliens that are sent to destroy the planet and needs to be killed! If you want to go HUNT down and KILL all ALTS and let them have a a painfull death, thats just stupid. Cant you spend your time on something else? TRY TO BE NICE TO OTHER PEOPLE FOR A CHANGE.
I think the new tool is awsome. They only way it could be bad is if people will use it to bully other people. As many breeders of kittycats do. They dont need a tool to bully people anyway... So people will have there "ALT-KILL-HUNTS" anyway... Along with all evil stuff they decide to do to hurt other people. But thats fine, be a grumpy person if you like, just leave my IM box.. thanks

Isn't there some kind of way that we can look over the pedigree without disclosing who the breeder was? If it's really all about knowing with certainty what possible traits are hidden, why is the breeder name important at all? Why are pedigrees hidden if you're not the owner anyway, I never really understood that. I'd love to go "kitty surfing" by clicking my way up the pedigree.
I do agree that putting it all out there does leave less incentive for the community to reach out to each other. If we could kitty surf then I don't see why we need anything more than the owner's name as it is now. As for "elite auctions" there is a place for everything, I can see how some people would like that.

I understand the concerns about privacy & elitism and feel that those concerns should be respected.
On the other hand, I do see value in having the breeder's name for a few reasons. Acknowledging people's hard work in breeding lines is part of it for sure. Also, a keen observer who has seen enough of other people's breeding of lines can sometimes make an educated guess that if they see a kitty with trait A & trait B and the breeder was Jane Doe, they may intuit from past observation that a lot of Jane Doe's trait A-trait B kitties are known to show or hide trait C, and it may be worth a gamble to get that kitty because of the chance of trait C being there. Also, I'm the sort of person who, if I breed an unexpected trait out of a cat I got from someone else and am fairly sure where it came from, will (if time & the mood suits me lol) contact that person & point out that their line may be hiding that trait, which would be useful information for them (and maybe an ounce of good karma for me hehe).

If people are demanded to make a complete paranoid idiot out of themselves and couldn't care less to voice their conspiracy theories, lose their temper out of nowhere (if you are not in their mind) and judge people without even asking them in person about it: from auction rules and how others might have embraced that or not and what ever else is bothering them who am I to say: "please stop doing that it looks so foolish."
I'm not their friend, friends I would protect and say:" hey, you might not want to say this like you do now because you have kind of a tunnel vision and might see a vicious alien in someone who really is a human or an armagadon in something which isn't really true."
But since I have been attacked over a cute little breedable and my personal preference in buying and selling which actually should only be fun and no warzone, I enjoy to see how people give away so much of their unparalleled mindset without even knowing they are doing so.
By all means feel free to vent all that and why should you think about tomorrow or a month from now or even a year or how people really think about that behaviour.
If it feels good in the moment just do it I say!

In first instance I was kind of in shock because of the unexpected nature of it and maybe even sad while if I read it back I'm just amazed how some brains work.
This amazing new pedigree tool which is about to be released, I read in an other thread could be THE secret ammunition of the enemy wow epic and yay that's the spirit lets fight eachother why the hell not?
Why have a good 2-nd life when we can be miserable?
One thing though if you really like to fight me be prepared because I'm really an alien who behaves like a human and soon I have a secret weapon to make your life hell

The elitist thing has to stop. Just because someone has their own way of wanting to breed "their" kitties and do "their" business is "THEIR" right. Just like the way you want to do your thing is up to you.
As far as the names go. I have bought kitties from "top" breeders and some made nice kitties and some made some real duds. I have bought kitties from names I never heard of and got some duds and some amazing kitties.
One of the things I think is so damaging to our market is the fact that too many ppl buy kitties based on the breeders names. I look at the traits. I don't care who bred the kitty, if it has the traits I want and I can work it, then that is the kitty I want.
Putting all these names on each kitty, I think is a distraction from what the kitty has to offer. It can be an amazing kitty with an unknown breeder and it won't get the same attention that a kitty with the "top" breeder names.
Another thing, I don't want ppl asking me to go through pedigrees to find out every blessed thing there was. Part of the fun are the surprises. I stood in my cattery one day for over an hour typing out all the info on one kitty. I only did it because they paid a high price for the kitty but I wanted to rip my hair out.

After letting this sit for a day, I am amazed at the different opions and reasons, anger and conspiracy theories. Here I just thought this was a really cool tool to give credit where credit is due, be able to see where my purchased kitties (gasp...omg yes most of my lines started with someone else!) started out and how far they have progressed (transparency can be a great tool depending on how you look at it). Then this great tool morphs into a way to out someones alt (could care less who your alts are...but in retrospect if you want privacy don't use your alts to conduct the same business as your main). Ugh...then the whole elitist thing....again it just amazes me at how seriously some take this...Should you be proud of a kitty you took from a Sega cat to a full 9T? Sure....heck I will freely admit the first time I bred out a Flame Siamese I squeeled a little...especially when that elusive shade popped up. And the white Russian line I worked on to get exactly what I wanted. As far as auctioneers...there are various rules no matter where you auction. Some want live, some allow boxes...some what more traits...some will take less. Now I will say I ran into a situation twice where someone WAS told their kitty was not good enough to auction and was asked to remove it. Because of these two particular instances, I have not returned as a spectator or seller. It's thats easy
With any large community you have various personalities, and these will invariably create cliques or groups that get along well and will exclude others; whether they mean to or not. Much like real life we all find our niche here in the virtual world, and it is ultimately up to each of of us how we interact with each other. For me, I choose to have a good time, meet interesting people, breed some pixel cats, and hopefully make enough off of sales to feed the little kitty-pigs. So I guess to wrap up, geez peeps...this is a cool little tool that was asked for in various posts, take it play with it, see what it will do for you...if it offers nothing for you then hey no biggie, for me I think it is a great way to see the beginning of my kitties, and lets be honest we all like to see our line pop up as a "grandkitty"....I have heard that at many, many auctions. So relax, enjoy and have fun

Please consider allowing "opting out" as a choice ... I'm a very casual breeder and rarely sell, but I *do* move my cats/breedings back and forth between my main and alts often and would much prefer to maintain my privacy.
